This "Ichiro Kato Recent Works Exhibition" is the final exhibition at our gallery in the Heisei Year of the Horse. Ichiro Kato is a potter with an honest character who is deeply devoted to his work, and is a little over forty years old. The workshop is located in Hofu City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, overlooking the beautiful sea. The works produced there primarily feature styles such as fabric textures and gold leaf, with powerful forms adorned with beautiful and delicate decorations. I first met Ms. Kato six years ago, and I hear that her child, who was a baby back then, is now in elementary school. During that time, Kato's work continued to evolve, and in recent years, he has expanded his field of activity, winning awards and being selected for public exhibitions. As the year draws to a close, I apologize for bothering you during this busy time, but I will be exhibiting some beautiful small pieces that would make great Christmas presents, and I would be delighted if you could take a look.

| Biography Biography | Born in Yamaguchi Prefecture in 1972. Graduated from Kyoto Junior College of Art in 1992. Completed training at the Ibaraki Prefectural Ceramics Training Center in 1995, and studied under Mr. Higashihiko Ito. 1999: Received the Governor's Award at the Ceramics Foundation Exhibition. 2002: Received the Excellence Award at the Ibaraki Prefecture Art Festival Art Exhibition. In 2004, received the Mitsukoshi Award at the Traditional Crafts New Works Exhibition, the Encouragement Award at the Asahi Ceramics Exhibition, and was selected for the Kikuchi Biennale. 2006 New Ceramic Art Exhibition: Received the Japan Crafts Association Award 2008: Received the Grand Prize and the Hokkaido Governor's Award at the Otaki Hokkaido Ceramics Exhibition. 2013: Encouragement Award and Selection for the "Tea Ceremony Art Exhibition" at the Tabe Museum of Art. 2014 Yamaguchi Traditional Crafts Exhibition, Asahi Shimbun Award Winner |
