| Introduction Introduction |
I believe that white tableware is honest and straightforward, but also unforgiving and incapable of deception. This is because it cannot compete with beautiful colors, but must compete with its form and craftsmanship. Isetan has kindly offered me the opportunity to hold this "Tableware Exhibition," which focuses exclusively on white tableware, at the main building of Isetan Shinjuku. I have asked 10 ceramic artists (7 men and 3 women) with whom I have a close relationship, ranging from young talents to veterans, to exhibit their work. They will be showcasing white tea bowls, white flower vases, and white tableware. The venue is not the Kakiden Gallery, but a small exhibition space in front of the art gallery on the 5th floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building, in the section for premium Japanese tableware. Rather than ten different colors for ten people, I hope you will enjoy the unique charm of each of the ten "one" colors, limited to the color white. Shop owner: Takashi Yasuda |
