Introduction
Introduction

The beautiful forms and textures of the trees are naturally visible to everyone in street trees and forests.
These vases, crafted from carefully selected natural materials such as tree bark, are meant to serve as a stage for wildflowers or the delicate blossoms that bloom in a corner of your garden.

 Yukio Honma

Yukio Honma 's studio in Tokyo is located in a quiet residential area of Ogikubo, Suginami Ward, where he works alongside his two sons, creating art in a harmonious father-son relationship.
Mr. Honma is dedicated to preserving Japanese lacquer, and he continues to create his works from the refining of the lacquer to the preparation of the wood and the painting process. I deeply admire his efforts and passion.
This solo exhibition, my first in almost three years, will feature beautiful flower vases made from tree bark, as well as tea ceremony utensils and everyday lacquerware.
Honma's works evoke a sense of both dilemma and joy as you consider what flowers to place in a vase that retains the natural texture of wood. We would be delighted if you would take a look at them.
